Body Parts

If you dog gets hurt, you would have to tell the vet's office what part of the animal was injured. In a showmanship class, the judge will also ask you about the names of different body parts of your dog. These photos will help you learn the parts. Notice that there are small differences between some of the terms. Be prepared to know both terms for these parts.

Some of the obedience basics

Dog Breeds

Do you know the breed of your dog? The American Kennel Club (AKC) divides dogs into eight groups. This video explains those groups --dog groups. In which group does your dog fit?
When showing in showmanship, the judge will typically ask you questions about your dog. The first question is what breed is your dog, and then it is usually followed by what group does that breed fit into. Be sure to know as much as you can about your canine companion.
